Bermuda lies 570 miles from the coast of North Carolina and is surrounded by the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Since 1968 Bermudas is a parliamentary British overseas territory with internal self-government. The capital of Bermuda is Hamilton, a little but vibrant city with Hamilton Harbour at the eastern end of the Great Sound, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean. The harbor town of Hamilton is an elegant citadel of old world splendour where British colonial influences provide an unmistakable character.
