Rome, the largest city in Italy, is located in the central-western part of the Italian peninsula, on the River Tiber. The church Santa Maria in Santo was built in the 17th century by Carlo Rainaldi, an Italian architect of the Baroque period, and the plans were revised by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The church Santa Maria dei Miracoli was designed by Carlo Rainaldi and Carlo Fontana.
