Ellingon Hotel Berlin, Nurnberger Strasse 50-55, 10789 Berlin, Germany.
The new Berlin presents itself to visitors as an open city again. Brandenburg Gate - once a symbol of the divided Germany - has again become the emblem of the German capital. Around it, the new centre of Berlin is rising up, a unique urban setting in which the old joins with the new, and the future of this Metropolis becomes visible.
When the Berlin Wall fell, the Berlin region became the newest conurbation in Europe more or less overnight. But as a result of the division of Germany and Europe which lasted almost half a century, this city in the centre of the continent was in an extreme political and geographical border situation. The political changes in Europe restored Berlin to its former position in the middle of Europe.
Berlin, the capital of Germany, is one of the most exciting city destinations in Europe and is a city in the making that resounds with innovation and change. Great experiments in urban planning since the fall of the Berlin Wall are equally matched by a seemingly inexhaustible energy in the arts and the city's nightlife.
The four-star firstclass Elligton Hotel Berlin is an elegant design hotel and it is centrally situated on the margin of the Berlin district Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, close to the Kurfurstendamm (Ku'damm), the most frequented shopping mall in Germany, Berlin Zoo and train station, the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtniskirche as well as the world famous KaDeWe department store on the Tauentzientrasse. This hotel is the ideal place for business travellers as well as leisure travellers wanting to discover the capital Berlin and enjoy the city life.
The Ellington Hotel is housed in a listed buildng, originally called "Haus Nürnberg", from the "Golden Twenties" with one of the longest and most remarkable natural stone facades in Berlin with elegant brass-framed windows. However, the building which today houses the Ellington Hotel Berlin has not been made a protected building simply for its unique exterior design. The impressive façade, 185 meters long, is composed of several sections, including stairwell towers and alcoves. The strip windows are nestled into their rounded corners, giving the majestic façade an extremely dynamic feel. The two stairwell towers extend proudly above the flat roof. The entrances and the shop windows along the storefronts are made of brass, further contributing to the distinguished appearance of the structure, which was built between 1928 and 1931 under the influence of the innovative buildings designed by the Berlin architect Erich Mendelsohn. The Haus Nürnberg, also known as the "Tauentzien Palace" and the "Femina Palace", was designed by an architectural team that was very successful in its time - Richard Bielenberg and Josef Moser. On October 1, 1929, the "Femina" celebrated its grand opening. The bold lettering at the bottom of the poster proclaimed that "Berlin's Dance Hall" had capacity for 2,000 guests and advertised "two massive bars and three bands" as well as "daily tea dances". The interior, with its lobbies, stairways, and halls, also preserves the charm of the late twenties and early thirties, boasting features such as white and green tiled walls, brass stair handrails, stucco ceiling ornamentation and gilded lettering on the walls.
The Ellington Hotel Berlin offers 285 unique guestrooms and suites and all accommodations are elegantly decorated in a contemporary and minimalist design and they are equipped with modern comfort.
The Restaurant Duke with an open show kitchen is a new highlight on the restaurant scene in Berlin and a stylish bar connects the restaurant with the hotel area and conservatory. The summer terrace is the ideal setting during the summer month in the internal courtyard of Restaurant Duke.
The Ellington Hotel Berlin offers a fitness centre.
The hotel provides eight meeting and banquet rooms with latest technology for up to 600 people for business and social events.
