… and quiet park with more than 15 hectar of meadows and trees. Steeped in tradition, music, culture and with its beautiful landscape, Salzburg is a unique setting for successful conferences. With its wide variety of social and cultural events not only is the city ideal for the discerning business traveller but it is also perfect for leisure guests. The capital of the province of Salzburg is the fourth-biggest city in Austria and, with its Baroque cupolas and churches, towered by the famous Hohensalzburg fortress, known as one of the most beautiful towns in the world. The Old City of Salzburg with its variety of building styles is a true architectural delight, also a result of the city's strict preservation laws. A walk through the countless narrow streets, the most famous being the Getreidegasse, Judengasse, Goldgasse, Kaigasse, Linzergasse and Steingasse, features buildings from the Middle Ages, Romanesque, Baroque and Renaissance periods as well as the elegant classical burghers' houses dating from the monarchy. Hardly any age failed to leave its architectural imprint on Salzburg. The Old City is picturesquely surrounded by the Mönchsberg, crowned by the Fortress which is visible for miles, and the mighty Capuchin Mountain on the right banks of the river. The city on the Salzach river owes its world fame to the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who was born here in 1756. In 1870 an international foundation called "Stiftung Mozarteum" was founded and since 1920 the Salzburg Festival has been held annually. With lots of love for the details, the necessary accurateness as well as with the due respect referring the tradition of the ancient castle, built in the year 1350, a comprehensive reconstruction was carried out along with the erection of additional rooms and function rooms. And thus, the beautiful, historically valuable castle let its brightness shine over Salzburg after it has reopened well timed at the beginning of the festival season in July 2003. The combination of old tradition and state of the art design and modern technique at Hotel Schloß Moenchstein represent a very particular attractiveness.
