The 800-year-old town is renown as a cultural centre, and as a city of numerous art treasures and many historic structures. Innsbruck?s rich history is interwoven with that of the Habsburgs, whose wealth and sense of beauty left their mark: take the "Golden Roof", the "Black Men" bronze statues at the Court Church, the Imperial Court Palace and Ambras Castle. The Alpine town is a living treasure house of history and culture. Architectural gems lurk around every corner of the old town, including imperial residences, cathedral domes and museums. Stroll around the quaint alleys and streets to take in the atmosphere of this magical town, a unique blend of sophistication, charm and Alpine exhilaration.
In the heart of the many-sided alpine town you can enjoy all comforts and at the same time feel the charm of a long tradition in the four-star Romantik Hotel Schwarzer Adler, the first Boutique Hotel of Tyrol. A dream of life- to satisfy desires, to experience values differently and still consider quality to be the main objective- that is what the Hotel Schwarzer Adler want to do for you.
In the early 16th century, "Emperor Maximilian's" stables were located here. In the surrounding area craftsmen busily plied their trades, for example silversmiths, who wrought works of art from precious metal. The medieval industrial zone very soon evolved to an upper-class neighborhood for prominent Tyrolean aristocratic families. Their residences still line the streets. Even the "Schwarzer Adler" was originally a patrician home.
Run as an inn since the early 17th century, the "Schwarzer Adler" reached its largest expanse under Emperor Joseph II, who was known for his secularization campaign: part of the neighboring Capuchin monastery was leased to the inn and the refectory was promptly converted to a pub. Whether a thirsty monk occasionally dropped by is not mentioned in the monastery's annals…
At the beginning of the 20th century Franz Ultsch took over the Schwarzer Adler Hotel (Black Eagle Inn) and still today the family Ultsch owns and runs this charming hotel. Sonja Ultsch with her knowledge of the fashion industry set new accents, which proved to be remarkable and successful, indeed. At her sure hand the interior design and decoration of the restaurant and hotel rooms set a new standard for hotels.
The charm of countless crystals in the unique Swarovski bathrooms, of a romantic Tyrolean four-poster bed, an open fire, or the sensual elegance of noble Versace designs is simply breathtaking. From the roof-top terrace in the centre of Innsbruck you can watch the chamois bucks or the skiers! Awaiting you are first class pleasures of the palate in atmospheric Tyrolean lounges and champagne in the Ford Lincoln limousine.
