This 17th century "grand siècle" style decor is based on three paintings dating from 1905 to 1907, the first phase of the refurbishment of Le Meurice since it opened. Every day from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm guests can enjoy the Afternoon Tea "a la Francaise" with delicate sandwiches, traditional scones, French cakes, macaroons, mini fruit tarts and pastries, as well as a wide selection of teas, coffees, hot chocolates or dare a glas og champagne. - The Bar 228, named after the hotel's address on 228 Rue de Rivoli, is a popular meeting place of Parisians. The cosy ambience of Bar 228 has the warmth of British clubs. Totally reinterpreted by Philippe Starck in December 2007, the warm and hushed decor remains faithful to its origins with wooden bar stools and leather chairs and the walls are decored with three paintings with festive night scene at Chateau de Fontainebleau. Bar 228 offers over 50 whiskies, 300 drinks, among them are 17 exclusive creations, such as the Cocktail Starcky or The 228, as well as a quick lunch and club sandwiches.
