Shangri-La Paris, 10 Avenue d'Iéna, 75116 Paris, France.
The 16th arrondissement is one of the 20 arrondissements (districts) of Paris and is situated on the right bank of river Seine. This arrondissement is one of the prestigious districts of Paris with beautiful 19th century buildings and the Bois de Boulogne, a large forest and park along the western edge of the 16th arrondissement. This district, located opposite the famous Eiffel Tower, offers many important localities, such as the Allée des Cygnes, the Trocadéro, the Gardens of Trocadéro, the Avenue Victor-Hugo, the Avenue du Président Kennedy, the Avenue Foch, and Avenue Kléber and it includes a concentration of museums between the Place du Trocadéro Place de Iéna.
The Hotel Shangri-La Paris is situated on the hill of Chaillot. For the Exposition Internationale of 1937, the old Palais du Trocadéro was demolished and replaced by the Palais de Chaillot which now tops the hill. It was designed in classicizing "moderne" style by architects Louis-Hippolyte Boileau, Jacques Carlu and Léon Azéma. Like the old palais, the Palais de Chaillot features two wings shaped to form a wide arc.
The deluxe-hotel Shangri-La Paris is situated in the prestige 16th arrondissement with stunning view of the Eiffel Tower and close to river Seine, Trocadéro, the world-famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Place Charles de Gaulle with the Arc de Triomphe, Avenue George V, most of the leading museums of the city, and a charming outdoor market. The most exclusive designer shops on the Avenue Montaigne and Avenue George V are also within easy reach.
The luxurious hotel Shangri-La Paris, opened in December 2010, is the first European hotel of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. This hotel is housed in a gorgeous historic mansion, built in 1896 as the private residence of Prince Roland Bonaparte, a grandnephew of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
The Shangri-La Paris is a magnificent icon of style, elegance and luxury. Restored by the prominent architect Richard Martinet, the plush interiors are the realization of famous interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon and the hotel is surrounded by a secluded garden reinvented by the landscape designer Louis Benech.
Two Ming Dynasty inspired vases flank the entryway and set the tone from the outset for Asian-meets-Paris elegance. A hand-carved reception desk to the left of the entrance provides a welcoming and residential ambience. To the right, visitors take a step back in time to 1892 as they enter the historic billiard room with a fireplace. Bathed in natural light, the hotel lobby with a size of 850 squaremetres (9,150 square feet) features high ceilings and refurbished marble. Imperial insignias and ornate monograms of Prince Roland Bonaparte, subtly integrated into the architecture, are complemented with Asian influence in the decor and ambience of the hotel and its restaurants, bar and salons.
The 81 guestrooms inclusive of 27 suites are designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon in a stunning mix of Empire style and the style of "luxury minimalist" and 40 percent of the guestrooms and 60 percent of the suites offer breathtaking, direct views of the Eiffel Tower and river Seine.
The restaurant "La Bauhinia", located in the mezzanine, offers Asian and Eupopean cuisine and is crowned by a stunning historical glass roof. "Le Bar", decorated in an authentic Empire style, is the perfect place for a cocktail or a glass wine. L'Abeille, a French gourmet restaurant, and the Shang Palace, a Cantonese gourmet restaurant open its doors in spring 2011.
Shangri-La Hotel Paris will open a luxurious spa space exclusively for hotel guests in spring 2011, inclusive of a swimming pool located in the prince's former imperial stables.
The hotel provides 850 squaremetres (9,150 square feet) of reception areas and event spaces evoke the spirit of the elegant events hosted by the Bonaparte family for the 19th century Parisian society.
