The Kurhaus is a famous listed building and it was built between 1884 and 1885 in an Art Nouveau style by the two German architects Johann Friedrich Henkenhaf and Friedrich Ebert. Originally it was a concert hall and a hotel with 120 rooms. The ceilings were painted by the well-known Brussels artist Van Hoeck and his large workshop. The Kurhaus was saved from demolition in 1975 being listed as a historical building with a magnificent façade and it was completely restored into a luxury hotel and casino.
