Fisher was friends with William Kissam Vanderbilt and was often invited to social gatherings aboard Vanderbilt's luxurious yacht named the "Eagle" of which Fisher was more than fond. In 1925, Vanderbilt proposed a trade to his friend: Fisher Island for the "Eagle." Fisher gladly accepted. Grace and grandeur were Vanderbilt's pleasure and Fisher Island continues with the tradition for it's members, residents and guests.

Guestrooms & Suites : "The Inn at Fisher Island" offers 60 guestrooms inclusive of 16 suites, 10 villas and 4 cottages. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, cable TV, radio, writing desk, direct dial telephone with voicemail, fax and PC connection, minibar, in-room safe and elegant bathroom with hairdryer and bathrobe.
  • The Deluxe Garden View Rooms have a size of 43 squaremetres and are located in the guesthouse of the original Vanderbilt Estate overlooking the garden. These rooms feature marble floors, wet bar and queen-size bed.
  • The Junior Suites have a size of 67 squaremetres. These spacious accommodations are located in the guest quarter section of the original Vanderbilt estate steps from the Spa Internazionale and the Tennis Centre. Each Junior Suite has elegant marble flooring, a separate sitting area, wet bar and bedroom area with two queen size beds. Luxurious baths featuring separate vanities, dressing area and a large Jacuzzi-style tub.
  • The luxurious Courtyard Villas have a size of 56 squaremeters are located in the main Vanderbilt Mansion area, adjacent to the beach. The Courtyard Villas feature a king-size bed, sitting area, separate vanity and bath with a Jacuzzi tub. The large private walled courtyard with outdoor Jacuzzi, lounge chairs and dining table make these villas distinct.
  • The One-Bedroom Garden View Suites have a size of 73 squaremetres. These luxurious suites offer a living room with a fully equipped serving pantry and a separate bedroom with a king-size bed as well as a terrace or balcony with views of the island.
  • The One-Bedroom Ocean View Suites have a size of 73 squaremetres. These luxurious suites offer a living room with a fully equipped serving pantry and a separate bedroom with a king-size bed as well as a terrace or balcony with views of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • The Cottages feature marble floors, separate bedroom, living room and kitchen. These cottages facing north or south side.
