Throughout the centuries Florence has been the focal reference point for all that regards architecture, sculpture and painting. Tuscany today is not only the living expression of Italian Renaissance but is one of the most coveted destinations for those whose appreciate good cooking and shopping.
The deluxe-hotel Villa La Massa is a fascinating Medici dwelling of the 16th century on the outskirts of Florence. In 1948 it was turned into a hotel and continues with its 5 centuries of history, to tell us tales of Renaissance splendour and the lifestyle of Florentine aristocrats. The 10 hectares of parkland, once a peach orchard and olive grove, are now all open to the guests. The fruit trees, olive trees, the vegetable gardens with their herbs, and the shores of river Arno are a perfect setting for lovely strolls. The produce is picked up in the own gardens and expertly prepared to be presented to the guests of the Villa La Massa by the chefs of the hotel restaurant "Il Verrocchio" restaurant.
In the western part of the villa gardens there is a small chapel with a sacristy, dating back to the times of the Rinuccini, that can hold up a maximum of twenty-five people. Here it is possible to celebrate Catholic Mass and Weddings in an atmosphere of great charm.
There are 3 villas, dating back to the days of the Medici (16th century): Villa Nobile (the Noble Villa), the Vecchio Frantoio (the Old Oil Mill) and the Villina (the Little Villa) comprising today the complex of Hotel Villa La Massa which, from an ancient dwelling of the aristocracy, was turned into a hotel in 1948. From its refined decoration, its period furniture in 17-th century style, and its inspired Tuscany cuisine to its splendid cellar with its wide range of excellent regional wines, it offers all the ingredients for a romantic and idyllic stay. For lovers of Italy and its flamboyant Renaissance.
History, the flowing water of the Arno, the Tuscan hills, the tradition of fine service from the sister property of " The Villa dŽEste Hotel" , all within a stone's throw from Florence at Villa La Massa Hotel.
The Villa La Massa has also two other "Sister Hotels" on Lake Como, the four star The Barchetta Excelsior Hotel Como and the four star The Palace Hotel, both are located in Como.
